Are you an influencer or sensemaker? [Wise Wednesdays #361]

Do you ever feel like your impact isn’t enough, especially when you compare yourself to the massive followings of influencers on social media? You might even hesitate to share your thoughts or post publicly, wondering if it’s worth it.

I believe the age of the influencer is ending. The era of the sensemaker is beginning.

What do I mean?

You don’t need masses of followers to make an impact.

The public space is no longer about simple entertainment and education but about consciously guiding the hearts and minds of people out of pain and fear towards clarity and wisdom. Those who know how will change the public dialogue in what some think tanks are now calling the BANI world (Brittle, Anxiety inducing, Non-linear, Incomprehensible).

Being a sensemaker rather than an influencer doesn’t mean you’ll lose your reputation or livelihood. Sharing meaningful content to a small number of people is how I grew my coaching practice. If what I posted helped one person make sense of their world and take wise action, that was enough. I never relied on number of likes or followers.

If you don’t step into the public space, then someone with a less wise and loving perspective of the world will.

You don’t need to be an influencer to the masses. You can be a sensemaker for a critical mass.

Your critical mass can be your team, organisation, country or family.

Help someone make sense of their world today.

Have a great week,

Amina
